This site is located on a small dirt pullout off of Glenn Coolidge Drive on the UC Santa Cruz campus. There is good visibility in all directions except for a slight rise due north.
The campus police are friendly but may ask what you are doing.
If you plan on operating the June ARRL contest, you should check the graduation calendar as graduation is frequently the same weekend. If you arrive at the campus just prior to an event traffic will be a mess. Note that there are multiple colleges each with their own ceremony.
Since the site is too small for multiple operators, KE6FI attempts to keep a list of who will be at the site during major contest. Please contact him to coordinate your visit.

Magnetic Declination (Variation)

Magnetic Declination, sometimes called Variation (especially in the aircraft world), is the difference between True North and Magnetic North. It is expressed in the number of degrees difference between the two directions and on which side of True North you will find Magnetic North.
